Watermelon Agua Fresca
It’s hydration season (well, it always is) but during the summer you want to make sure you and your kids are especially hydrated with the increase in heat and activities. Aqualady, in our book “The Adventures of Veggieman”, is a huge fan of water but another great way to get water and fiber-rich fruit into your kids’ bodies is to make Watermelon Agua Frescas. This recipe only uses fresh watermelon, lime, and some mint (if you’d like). It’s naturally sweet from the fruit, so refreshing, and easy to make. It’s also a fun recipe for kids to make where they can vary the recipe, subbing watermelon for honeydew, cantaloupe, or pineapple.
- 1 cup of watermelon, cubed
- 1 lime, squeezed
- 2 cups of cold water
- 1 sprig of mint, optional
- Ice
Cut up some watermelon and lime. Add them into a blender, along with some mint. Add some crushed ice or serve with ice cubes.
